Family, Career and Community Leaders of America

FCCLA is the only student organization with the family as its main focus. It’s mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences Education. We focus on helping students achieve and succeed in multiple life roles of family member, wage earner and community leader.

Members develop skills in character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communications, practical knowledge and career preparation.

We were busy this past year, including the following activities:

 

o   We raised most of our operating money with volleyball concessions.

o   Several members served as Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors all year long.

o   We put out an anti-bullying campaign in September.

o   Several members attended the fall leadership conference in Arkansas City in October.

o   We sponsored a Halloween costume contest in October.

o   A great crew served the fall play dinner in November.

o   We staged a dance in December to raise money for winter coats for the Second Closet.

o   Several helped with and participated in STAR Events competition in Douglass in February.

o   We celebrated FCCLA week in February in a big way.

o   We held a bake sale and cell phone collection to raise money for Pennies for Patients in March.

o   A large group participated in Bowl for Kids’ Sake to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters in March.

o   We served refreshment for the Spring Play in March.

o   A great group went to State Leadership Conference in Wichita in April.

o   We collected pop tabs and made pillows for the Ronald McDonald House in April.

o   A group went on a Spring Outing to the Ronald McDonald House and Tanganyika Wildlife Park in April.
