Eagles Defeat Altoona-Midway 50-0!

By Wyatt Williams

October 27, 2008

For the second week in a row, we traveled across the state to play a football game, this time traveling to Buffalo-Altoona-Midway to play the Jets. Coming off of our worst performance of the season in last week's 28-22 double overtime victory over Chetopa, we talked all week about preparing ourselves better mentally, and playing Udall Eagle football. On Friday night, we took care of business very early in the game, as we held the Jets to a three-and-out, and blocked a punt, on the first series of the game. Michael Carselowey blocked the punt, and it took one play for our offense to score, as Carselowey dragged four Jet defenders into the end zone, starting a 44-point outburst in the first half of the game. Despite committing two early turnovers, our offense played very well, and put the disappointing offensive performance of last week behind us. For the game, we accumulated 323 yards rushing in just over a half, as the game ended due to the 45-point rule at the 11:00 minute mark of the third quarter at 50-0. Leading the way for us offensively was quarterback Skylor Kistler, as he seemed to shake off the effects of last week's injury, with 132 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just five carries. Kistler had a 53-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, and a 55-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Taylor Camp recorded his first 100 yard rushing performance of the season, as Camp rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown on ten carries, and ended the game with an impressive 44-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Michael Carselowey continued with his great senior season, as he rushed for 75-yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Dylan Smith also caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Kistler, as we only threw the ball three times on the night. Defensively, we were once again led by Eli Williams on the defensive line, as he recorded six tackles and three sacks, while Carselowey chipped in eight hard hitting tackles. We are very happy that we have clinched a playoff berth, but are focused on playing our final regular season game with Central next Thursday night in Udall. It will also be the final regular season home game for our four seniors: Michael Carselowey, Colton Sawyer, Colton Schoonover, and Eli Williams, as well as the fact that we will be attempting to win our eighth game of the season. We hope to see everybody at the game, and help cheer us on to a victory!
