BOE Meeting Time Change

The USD 463 Board of Education was scheduled to meet Monday, April 13th at 7:00 to allow members to attend spring sports and activities.  In light of the closing, the time has now been changed back to the original 6:00 start time.

Food Service Program to Start Monday, March 23

USD 463 will start offering meals to all children ages 1-18 on Monday, March 23.  Students can pick up lunch and breakfast for the following day from the cafeteria between 11:00 - 12:00 daily.  Delivery is also an option for any student currently receiving free or reduced meals.  In order to have meals delivered, you must send a request in writing to Julie Wilson at the district office (juliewilson@usd463.org).  If you would like your child to participate in the meal program, please contact Julie Wilson so the school can get an accurate count and have appropriate amounts of food available.  You can call the district office at 620-782-3355.  Click on the document below to read the full plan and requirements:

USD 463 Closed for the Remainder of the School Year

At 4:00 today, March 17, Governor Laura Kelly announced the closing of all Kansas schools through the remainder of the school year. With this recommendation as well as our own concern for the safety and well-being of our students and families, USD 463 Udall Schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The district will be providing continual learning opportunities based on support from KSDE and with the guidelines provided by KDHE.

We understand this brings many questions and concerns from our community.  District Leadership in partnership with the Board of Education and KSDE has started working through our next steps as a district.

Here is what we know now:

USD 463 will continue to work with KSDE to provide meals to students of Udall Schools

Udall School will work next week to develop curriculum and lessons from KSDE guidelines to provide Udall students with continuing learning opportunities
USD 463 plans to host parent meetings Wednesday March 18, Thursday March 19, and Friday March 20, at the high school.  Details of these meetings will be shared in another document that will be posted on the school website and the school Facebook page.

We ask for your patience as we navigate this unprecedented situation and work through additional details. As we have more specifics about what services we will be able to provide for families in need during this closure, we will communicate through or regular means.

KSHSAA Cancels all Spring Activities

The KSHSAA is committed to the safety of our student-participants and the health of our school communities. Accordingly, in response to Governor Kelly’s Executive Order regarding the closure and cessation of in-person instruction in all Kansas schools through May 29, 2020, the KSHSAA is cancelling all spring championships, competitions, and festivals for the remainder of this school year. The KSHSAA recognizes the value of school activities for all students and school communities, but the current situation does not permit the opportunity for school activities to take place in a manner that is consistent with the very reason school activities exist.

As a commitment to the health of Kansas students and communities, the best decision and only reasonable response is to cancel the regular season and post-season spring activity season. We all have an important responsibility to minimize community transmission as we embrace suggested precautions regarding COVID-19.  As educators, the primary focus for our students and families is the health and well-being of each student. This action by the KSHSAA supports that effort across Kansas.

The KSHSAA strongly discourages non-school activity participation at this time in an effort to mitigate the community transmission of the coronavirus. All CDC, KDHE and KSDE recommendations for preventing disease transmission should be followed at this time for any non-school activity in which a student participates. The following links provide access to those resources:
