In February, we celebrate the "Yellow School Bus."

Here are some interesting facts about school buses.

1) School buses are designed to be 70 times safer than traveling by car.
2) The high-backed, closely spaced seats in the school buses use "compartmentalization" for safety.
3) The stop-arm on a school bus was first introduced in the 1950s.
4) In most states, it's illegal to pass a school bus when its stop arm is extended.

Chelsea Daniel, Stephanie Anderson, and Deb Weve from Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas worked with sophomores during Eagle Time on Tuesday and Thursday this week. During their first visit, they described some of the career readiness resources their center has available, along with the value of utilizing career interest profilers such as the one provided on O*Net Online. Their second visit focused on helping students navigate the O*Net website in order to learn just about anything they'd like to know about a specific career they might be interested in, including required skills, training opportunities, and wage trends.
